Wedding Day Timeline Suggestions

FIRST THINGS FIRST.

Screen Shot 2018-08-28 at 1.22.25 PM.png

What time does the sun set? How much daylight do we actually have to work with? I always tell my couples to first look at what time the sun will set on your wedding day. You can easily look this up on google.

Some Timeline Suggestions:

  1. Think about having a first-look so we can do family or wedding party photos before the ceremony. I highly recommend seeing each other before the ceremony to get the important photos out of the way so you can celebrate cocktail hour with your family/friends. When we don’t have a first-look, we can’t take any big group shots until after the ceremony forcing us to cut into valuable time with your guests.

  2. When planning time for “getting ready photos” keep in mind that I need enough time to get all the details you have prepared for me. (invitation suite, dress, rings, vows, shoes, perfume.) Try to have me arrive with enough time to get these before you get dressed. Please be aware, I can’t do all of this within 5 minutes :)

  3. Think about how big your families are for family photos. Usually family pictures are just immediate family+grandparents.
Small families (3-7 people) usually can be done in 20 minutes. Larger families (8-15) can take up to 45 minutes.

  4. My usual suggestion for wedding party photos is 20-30 minutes. This allows us to get group shots + individuals with you and your friends.

  5. Make sure to remember to cut out time during the day for formal photos of the two of you. I highly suggest doing these either right before or right after the ceremony so your hair, makeup, and flowers are fresh! I suggest at least 30 minutes for these photos.

  6. At some point during the night, I need to eat and stay fueled! I highly suggest having me eat while you eat, and then starting toasts AFTER you have eaten.
I guarantee you don’t want photos of you eating ;)

Please keep in mind, these are examples. I'm sure your wedding planner has many examples like these- this is just what I suggest for photography purposes.
